Favourite Ways to Make Money Blogging

This post may contain affiliate links

Last year I started blogging as a way to enjoy writing. Reading and writing are passions I had since I was a child. So when I discovered that I could actually start a blog and use up my talents and that it wasn’t expensive at all, I jumped at the opportunity.

Blogging is one of my favourite things to do. Making money from my blog is awesome too.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that I could actually do what I liked and get paid for it too! This is what is called monetizing your blog. Unless you really get into the world of blogging, you don’t know how people can actually stay at home in their [easyazon_link identifier=”B01AHZT9E0″ locale=”US” tag=”joleisacom21-20″]pajamas[/easyazon_link]or house clothes behind their computers and actually make a living. Now that I am into blogging, I am one of those people too.

To set up your own blog you really just need a name, a focus, a spot on the Internet and a host company. You can read all about this in this post I made earlier.  You can then make money on your blog in several ways and I plan to explore as much as possible. Right now though, I will share with you the ways I enjoy making money from my blog.

Sponsored Posts

Soon after I started blogging, I was approached by a representative of a company who wanted me to write an article on behalf of the company and post it on my blog. Of course, I made sure that the company was actually one which suited my blog focus. I learned soon though, that I must always arrange and receive at least partial payment for the sponsored post before publishing. It was scary as I published the post on a Friday and was promised payment right away; it was several anxious days later that I received the payment.

I learnt my lesson by speaking to other well-established bloggers who informed me about the right ways around this. Since then, I have enjoyed working with people and companies to create great posts for them at a price we have agreed. Click here if you would like to know more about working with me.

Affiliate Links

If you read blogs often, you will sometimes see that when you click on a particular highlighted text, it takes you to a another site which sells products or services. Well the owner of the blog actually gets paid a commission for putting the link on their site. I make money from several affiliate links but my two favourites are Amazon and EBA. These are services that I actually use myself and enjoy using, and think that my readers would enjoy too. Amazon is my favourite because it stock thousands of items that every day people like me and my readers use. In fact, if you can think of one thing that is not sold on Amazon, just let me know in the comments section below. Clicking on my Amazon link takes you directly to the online store where you can purchase products of your choosing. Without it costing you any extra at all, I get paid a commission on each sale. It is like Amazon paying me to promote for them.

I have used Elite Blog Academy for its excellent blogging course which has taught me so much and helped to get me in touch with other awesome bloggers. Doing the course has benefited me and I can see one hundred percent how it can benefit others too. I only promote products and services that I actually love, and EBA is one of them. It is one of the best blogging courses around and I can see so much progress in my growth from when I started my little blog to now. Check them out here and join the list for when the course opens up again for new students.

Own Products/Services

One of the most valuable things I learnt in the blogging course I did was that you can actually make and sell your own products from your blog. If you are good at creating craft items, you can do that in your own time and then advertise them to the public from your blog. Other people I know make and sell printable stuff from their blog and they actually make a living that way.

Well since I love writing so much, I have used my blog posts and ideas to make my very own book which is now being sold on Amazon. It was one of my proudest achievements and it wasn’t very difficult at all! I have since been able to advise and encourage other people who want to do their own book or launch their own products.  It is a great feeling knowing that I can help others both through the content of the book entitled [easyazon_link identifier=”1520154224″ locale=”US” tag=”joleisacom21-20″]Living Life While Squeezing Lemons[/easyazon_link], but also by showing others how they can put their own content out there too.

So last year when I started my blog, I had no idea how successful it would be. This monetary success has given me the motivation to move on to even bigger and better things. I will continue to monetise but especially with my own products so look out for the next book which will be published in July.

xoxo

I’m a month into using affiliate links and I haven’t gotten anything yet. Also, I”m looking forward to doing sponsored links, but don’t know how to get companies to approach me about it. Guess I just need to keep plugging away.

Hi Sarah, I haven’t approached any companies yet but I do get approached by them. You want to think about whether it is suitable for your blog too, as not everything is. As you say, keep plugging away and it will happen soon enough. I will check out your blog. I’m a crochet lover too. Thanks for stopping by and all the very best to you.
